Lighting Arrestor

Spike Lighting Arrestor

Spike Lightning Arrestor is a metal rod, made of copper and, used as part of lightning safety to protect tall or isolated structures (such as the roof of a building or the mast of a vessel) from lightning damage.

Lightning is the leading cause of weather-related damage to building equipment. With average lightning currents of 20 to 30 kilo amps and heat energy of more than 20,000°C, the need for improved lightning protection is evident. Based on our observations and experiences gained in this field, we recommend installing lightning protection on the structure regardless of the strike hazard level.

ESE Lighting Arrestor

  • An Early Streamer Emission air terminal, also known as ESE or as an ionizing lightning rod, is an external lightning protection system with innovative technology. This ESE air terminal is also known as an active lightning rod.

  • The performance of active systems is immensely higher than passive systems because these systems use different technologies, like ionization of the air in ESEs.

  • The active system has a bigger protection radius: it can be more than twice the protection radius of a simple lightning rod, depending on the models.

  • The active protection system is the most inexpensive: In cases where it is necessary to cover a huge area, it may be more expensive to install a large number of Franklin rods than only one ESE.

  • Reduced visual impact: Needing fewer elements, the aesthetics of the structure or protected area will be less affected.

  • Active protection not only protects the structure but also protects surrounding and open areas.
